CCRID Leadership Team Meeting

Members Present: Nicole Wolfe, Pamela Warkentin, Renee Bisnett, Shelly Cooper, Amanda Bosworth, Bobbi Rumsey, Christy West, Erin Uribe, Gloria Higa,Shannon Simonelli , Rosemary Diaz, Kathy Yoshida, Kaitlin Rickerd and Suzanne Conway

 

  1. Call to Order by Nikki at 2:07PM
  2. Approval of Agenda Items—approved by consent
  3. Approval of minutes from May 3, 2009—approved by consent
  4. Board Reports
    1. Treasurer—After paying Debbie Peterson and Amy, and making a deposit from the workshop, our account balance is a little over $10,00.00.
    2. President—

                                                              i.      Thank you to those who participated in VDF. We received a couple of membership renewals at VDF.

                                                            ii.      The Fingerspelling workshop went well and ran smoothly.

                                                          iii.      Several members stayed for the General Business meeting and welcome to those of you joining us for the first time today.

                                                          iv.      We need to discuss and begin to plan for the kickoff dinner and dessert auction.

                                                            v.      Introductions—each member stated their name and how they are involved in the field of interpreting.

    1. Vice-President

                                                              i.      Since this is our last meeting with the current officers, I wanted to say thank you to each of you who have served as officers and on the leadership team. It has been nice to have the input from a CDI on the leadership team. CCRID will continue to grow because of your willingness to serve.

    1. Secretary

                                                              i.      Passed out a copy of the workshop preparation form. Explained that the form contains all of the information required to place an event on the website and create a flyer. I will E-mail a copy of the form to each person on the leadership team.

 

  1. Committee Reports
    1. Membership— We currently have 113 members.

                                                              i.      Kathy confirmed the details to be placed on the hard plastic membership cards for next membership year. The card will be white with dark purple lettering. No certifications will be listed on the card. If a member has an RID number that can be placed on the card.

                                                            ii.      Kathy will report on what the printer requires to print the cards.

 

 

 

    1. PDC

                                                              i.      Terp Time—Fall— Sat. Aug. 29th @ DHHSC, 9am-11am, ‘Everything that you wanted to know in kindergarten but didn’t learn until High School” (sexual signs and swearing); Dec. 5th—topic to be determined

                                                            ii.      Oct. 3rd—all day workshop—Pam and Amy—Conceptual Accuracy.  It was noted that the Deaf Women’s Conference for church and Angelica’s wedding is on this same date.

                                                          iii.      Slang—mini—September

                                                          iv.      We have DHHSC reserved for Nov. 14th and Oct. 3rd.

                                                            v.      Kickoff: Salad with dessert auction--dinner 5:30pm; dessert auction 6:15pm; workshop 7:30pm-9pm. Rosemary is working on contacting panelists. Dinner and workshop price will be determined at a later date. Tentative date: Sept. 18th.

                                                          vi.      Since there is always a request for the salad recipes, Suzanne will put together a recipe book, Christy can bind it at school. They will be available for purchase for a nominal fee.

                                                        vii.      Mini workshop—Nov. 6th—Kathy Yoshida—Deaf-Blind Interpreting. Registration: 6pm—workshop 6:30pm-8:30pm. $10.00.

                                                      viii.      Rosemary has enjoyed working on the PDC and will continue to work on the RFP process of obtaining presenters.

                                                          ix.      When at RID National Conference, make note of presenters who would be good to bring to Fresno, and get their card if possible.

    1. Publications

                                                              i.      The newsletter will be e-mailed and printed the first week of July. Shannon will follow up with Becki concerning writing the feature article.

    1. Fundraising

                                                              i.      We sold 1 t-shirt and all of the cookies at Valley Deaf Festival (VDF).

    1. Hospitality

                                                              i.      We have blank note cards for the cash box.

                                                            ii.      President will mail out congratulations cards to those who have received their certifications recently: Beth Lilley, Dylan, Becki, Kristy Gonzalez—NIC Advanced, Kendra Kronk: NIC, and Josh: NIC.

  1. Unfinished Business
    1. Regonline.com

                                                              i.      If we begin our membership drive using Regonline to track our members, then there is no need to pay the $500.00 upload fee.

                                                            ii.      Motion for the membership chair to contact regonline and contract with them to provide membership tracking for 2009-2010 year and utilize them for registration services. [M/S/P]

                                                          iii.      We will accept Visa and Mastercard.

 

    1. Locking cabinet to be placed at DHHSC

                                                              i.      Bobbi will check into pricing for the cabinet. Kathy will look renting cubicle space. This will be placed on the next agenda. Bobbi recalls checking about locking cabinets costing about $300.00.

    1. Ratify e-mail decision to sponsor VDF for $500.00

  5. Interpreting and Deaf Community Announcements
    1. June 20th—Emergency Training—Kathy will be attending the presentation and will report at the next meeting.
    2. If you have received the survey regarding the shortage of interpreters study, please fill it out if you have a chance.
