CCRID Leadership Meeting Minutes

  1. Called to Order by Pam Warkentin at 2:05pm
  2. Approval of Agenda Items-- add EIPA workshop review under PDC
  3. Approval of Minutes from Jan. 11, 2009 meeting—approved with changes
  4. Board Reports
  5. Treasurer
    1. We have approximately $10,000.00 in the checking account
    2. Received 1099 for the Kaiser donation
  6. President’s report—none
  7. Vice-president’s report— none
  8. Secretary
    1. To submit the website nomination we need 8 color copies of each page of the website. I will contact RID to make sure they want printed copies of the website.
    2. Approval to print at Kinko’s will need to occur via e-mail vote.

    1. Membership

                                                              i.      A decision needs to be made through e-mail regarding the EIPA workshop refund for a leadership committee member.

                                                            ii.      EIPA workshop registration report

1.      9 members signed up at the previous workshop, 20 utilized PayPal, 4 received the discount since they were unable to access the website, 21 registered at the door, and 1 person requested a refund.

                                                          iii.      Interpreters were needed at the workshop

                                                          iv.      We currently have 91 members; 16 new members signed up at the EIPA workshop

                                                            v.      We have 21 membership cards left

                                                          vi.      Kathy and Renee will look into lamination options or a plastic card printer for the new membership cards.

    1. PDC

                                                              i.      Fingerspelling with Debbie Peterson –May 16th—@ DHHSC .5 CEU’s

1.      We will hire 1 local interpreter; the team will be members from the leadership team.

2.      Fliers need to indicate that if an interpreter is needed, request 2 weeks in advance.

3.      The FM system will be needed for this workshop.

4.      Workshop time: 9-11:00 and 1:30-4:30; 11-12 business meeting

5.      Presenter costs--$800.00

6.      Workshop price: Member--$55.00, Non-member--$75.00. If they sign up at the March mini workshop--$10.00 discount. Online special--$5.00 discount will end 15 days prior to workshop.

 

                                                            ii.      March Mini workshop--March 27th @ DHHSC

1.      Rosemary has made contact with several Deaf members and they are unable to present. Please send ideas to Rosemary via e-mail.

                                                          iii.      TerpTime: Feb. 28th—Christy & Shannon, April 25th Pam & Nikki or Suzanne

                                                          iv.      EIPA Workshop Feedback—

1.      We should consider having Richie Bryant as a presenter with Cindy Farnham out for another workshop.

2.      A few members wrote in feedback that they would like to see workshops offered in outlying areas. At this time, we do not foresee this happening when our resources are in Fresno.

3.      Renee Wood interpreted for the workshop—we will give her a discount to the next May workshop or she can attend the mini workshop free.

    1. Publications

                                                              i.      The SignPost will be mailed out in April— The deadline for articles is March—Nikki’s article will focus on embracing change.

                                                            ii.      Rosemary will contact Shannon with the information needed for the fliers

    1. Fundraising— We sold some shirts at the workshop.
    2. Hospitality

                                                              i.      Katie Carlson—passed her NIC, Eric and Carmela had a baby boy, Katie Benson got married

                                                            ii.      Jen will work with PDC for the snacks at workshops

                                                          iii.      We need thank you cards in the cash box; Jen will get them in there.

  1. PayPAL
    1. Using PayPal for registration is cumbersome.
    2. Renee found regonline.com for a registration website. At first glance, it appears to be a better fit for our group than ACTEVA. The cost is 4.75 per registrant, including zero payment R.S.V.P’s. They also have an area where the attendee can request for an interpreter and we would be notified of that request.
  2. Old Business
    1. The fee for a temperature controlled mini storage at Derrel’s Mini Storage is over $50.00 per month.
    2. Continual archive for Newsletters and Minutes—we will need to vote on this via e-mail or at the next meeting. The cost would be $100.00
  3. Announcements from Deaf and Interpreting Community
    1. DHHSC has registration forms for the Booster Club, please go in and speak with Heather about joining.
    2. Michelle Bronson and Jesse Lewis will be Co-Directors for DHHSC
