CCRID Leadership Team Meeting Minutes

May 3, 2009

 

Members Present: Pam Warkentin, Christy West, Suzanne Conway, Bobbi Rumsey, and Renee Bisnett, Nicole Wolfe (teleconference)

 

1.                  Call to Order by Pam W. at 2:07 P.M.

2.                  Approval of Agenda Items—approved with additions

3.                  Approval of Minutes from April 19th meeting—will be submitted at next meeting.

4.                  Board Reports

a.       Treasurer: Bank balance as of March 31st is $9,398.27

                                                              i.      A deposit of $900.00 was made after the last workshop, bringing the actual balance to a little over $10,000.00.

b.      President:

                                                              i.      I am still waiting to hear from the Franchise Tax Board regarding the need for a sales permit for Valley Deaf Festival.

c.       Vice-President: no report

d.      Secretary:

                                                              i.      I have made some additions to the website. I uploaded an archive and bylaws section. I also uploaded the nomination form to be mailed in or submitted via the website form.

                                                            ii.      I will be uploading the PPM as well. Pam expressed the desire to receive a printed copy.

e.       MAL reports:

                                                              i.      North—Kaye: Kaye will be attending the fingerspelling workshop and plans to bring others from the area with her as well.

                                                            ii.      South—Nikki T: no report

5.                  Committee Reports

a.       Membership: we currently have 105 members.

                                                              i.      New membership cards are modeled after RID. The cost is $1.50/per printed hard plastic card. If we make member’s CCRID number the same as their RID number it will help members when filling out the CEU form. No certifications should be listed. Motion to approve printing the 2009-2010 Membership cards on hard plastic [M/S/P}.

b.      PDC

                                                              i.      Fingerspelling Workshop: DHHSC, May 16, 2009, .5CEU’s, 9am-4:30pm, business meeting from 11am-12pm.

1.      All arrangements were made for registration, cash box, snacks, thank you cards, and raffle prizes.

2.      Motion that the yearlong drawing is for 1-year free membership and 1 all day workshop [M/S/P].

                                                            ii.      Ideas for upcoming workshops:

1.      Conceptual Accuracy: Amy and Pam (all day), October

2.      Slang mini—September

3.      Deaf/Blind: Kathy (mini)—November

4.      Prosody: Brenda Nicodemus (all day)

c.       Publications

                                                              i.      Shannon has requested that information for workshops be determined at least 3 months in advance. Having this information will help our membership be informed in a timely manner.

                                                            ii.      Article ideas for next newsletter: June: celebrating growth—Becky Hirschkorn (discussing her experience having attended RID National Conference for the 1st time, receiving certification, and attending the RID conference in Philadelphia) —Nikki will contact.

                                                          iii.      Recently Certified: Shannon and Katie Carlson.

                                                          iv.      Other ideas for writers are recent graduates from CSUF.

                                                            v.      Christine Gough would like to submit an article for the Fall printing.

d.      Fundrasing

                                                              i.      Bobbi will contact Beth regarding t-shirts and giveaway items for fingerspelling workshop

e.       Hospitality

                                                              i.      Bobbi will contact Jen regarding snacks and thank you cards.

6.                  Old Business

a.       Reg-online.com

                                                              i.      The fee for the membership database upload is $500.00. This is a one-time fee. Renee will continue to find out more information regarding the membership module.

b.      Valley Deaf Festival (VDF)—Sat., June 6th--CCRID will have a booth. We will sell t-shirts. 2-hour shifts were arranged. We will donate a $10.00 Jamba Juice gift card for the door prize donation [M/S/P].

c.       DHHSC—storage cabinet—Bobbi will research the cost of a locking cabinet to be placed at DHHSC. Once the size has been determined, we will discuss with DHHSC the cost to rent space for the cabinet.

d.      Kathy has the address to mail the check for Alma’s family.

7.                  New Business

a.       Officer Nominations: Nikki—Treasurer, Renee—Secretary, Suzanne—President, Pam—Vice-president

8.                  Interpreting Related / Deaf Community Announcements

a.       National Conference is in Philadelphia, Pa.—Aug. 1-6th
