CCRID Leadership Meeting

April 11, 2010

Attendees: Suzanne, Christy, Nikki, Bobbi, Pam (2-3pm), Kathy (3-3:34pm)

Board Reports

a. President – Terp Time went well, 11 people attended, positive comments about the Terp Time being tied to workshops; Sammy Milburn of IEISMS has asked for a current educational interpreter to be a liaison to the committee; discussed Standard Practice Papers; Suzanne will check with Shelia Wolff about her expressed interest in becoming more involved with CCRID Leadership

b. Vice-President – VDF sponsorship…confirming we did sponsor DHHSC; would like to see some type of general committee report templates for folks to follow to know what should be included

c. Treasurer – one post-dated check from the previous workshop for the May 1^st workshop…no more post-dated checks to be accepted in the future; a check was returned due to a closed account, Nikki will make contact

d. Secretary – no report

c. Membership – 86 members

d. Publications – July newsletter will go out, would like to have fall workshop line-up to include in newsletter; the Terp Time will be related to the workshop; articles due to Publications by June 15^th; idea for the newsletter: “What to do over Summer Break…” to include activities to keep up skills such as the summer study program at Gallaudet, attending Fresno Deaf Events, etc. (Suzanne to email Shannon)

e. Website – need the minutes to add to the website; fliers for Kick-Off & workshops will be added, will email Shannon to secure those; discussed postcards to promote the Kick-off, possibly to send in May; will email Shannon about email notification of Terp Time; would like to see regonline for Kick-Off (to know the number of attendees & people can pay with a credit card), $5 discount for pre-registering online; membership renewals will be available July 1^st for the new membership cycle; the Resources & Links section has been added to the website

f. PDC – very positive feedback from Terp Time and it being tied to the workshop; discussed presenter needs for Austin Andrews (PA system, LCD projector & table, has the tax forms ready, has not purchased flight or arranged hotel; discussed having a Mini Workshop on sex signs with Christy & Suzanne as presenters; discussed a concern with many people arriving late to the March 20^th workshop, CCRID leadership will need to be more diligent about connecting with those who arrive late and make sure they have paid; will plan out the October-December time frame (& possibly Spring line-up as well) during the May meeting; CCRID leadership will be cooking/bringing food; provision of lunch on May 1^st needs to be emphasized to our membership, may create a bigger draw to attend the workshop; possible workshop ideas: Linguistics with Suzanne and Rosemary (since they’ve taught the class at FSU)

Unfinished business –

-pay $75.00 to DHHSC for sponsorship of the VDF event

-table cloths were donated to CCRID from the Bear Club (purple)

-Discussed the plan for dessert for the Kick-Off

New business –

Announcements –

-SSP training – free of charge – at DHHSC on April 23^rd 6-9pm

-April 19^th there is a law enforcement workshop in the evening at DHHSC

-Maja Freund and her family are expecting a new bundle of joy in Sept/Oct
